In a magic trick if you are trying to do something sneaky, always have a destraction so you can do your setup un-noticed.

Yeah its simple, kinda odvious, but sometimes they come in handy in a tight situation.

By the sounds of It you guys have bad misdirection skills lol! Dont try to point people away from the trick do something more natural, talk to them or show one hand empty and ditch with the other something like that

Hey Ace,

I used that today. While I was waiting for my bus at school, I did some Card tricks for my friends.

I was doing Shake change, then suddenly, One of my cards were slipping away. I said, "Dude what da Heck!!," And I pointed in some random Direction. Then I got a good gripped back and continued my trick.
