RAT

Hey everybody !

I want to show you a little piece of mentalism i’m using all the time , i tried to give it a good translation , excuse me as usual for my approximative English !

I created this routine inspired by two differents effects I mixed :
Mental yarn by Bill Goldman , and Triple Impact Design by Mark Timon .

I’m sure you can find both effects here thanks to the search tool ..
Here it is :

Choose two spectators , and tell them you’ll try to read their minds …

Ask to the first spectator to think of an even number between 1 and 8

And to be sure they will not choose the same number , tell to the other spectator to
think at an odd number between 1 and 8 .


Explain you’ll show a card with list of different words to both of them , and they will have to keep in mind the word that correspond to the number they picked .

The list is :

1 – sewers
2 – Chicago
3 – laboratory
4 – rodeo
5 – wood trap
6 – horns
7 – grey
8 – ring

This must be done quickly .
In an another card , explains you have a new list with completely different animals .
They will have to link their first selection to an animal of the second list :

1 – lion
2 – rat
3 – snake
4 – orca
5 – bull
6 – parrot
7 – bear
8 – rabbit



If an even number is chosen , it’s obvious that the animal will be a BULL
For the odds , it will be a RAT

Now , it’s self working ! ( well almost if drawing is not your cup of tea )
TIME FOR MIND READING !

Take a paper , pad and a sharpie , a lot of patter , and draw something like that :

to the 1st spectator : “ Is your animal a BULL ? “ blam ! first climax !
Tear this design of the pad .

Now it’s time to find the animal of the other spectator :

Draw a Rabbit head like so :

You are thinking of a Rrrrrrrr – turn the pad -rrRABBIT !

“ Wh .. it’s not a rabbit ? I was almost sure ..”

tear this drawing , and draw a snake like so :

“ that’s not it ? “ patter patter , emphasis , feel embarrassed , mix your drawings :

and say “ oooOH I understand “ “ I know why i thought “rabbit “ first , it was letters I captured in your mind :

Place quickly your drawings in a row :

Now spectators can read :

“ Look ! Your animal was the RAT ! “

TADAAM !

That’s it folks ! It can take few seconds before they have a reaction , don’t worry it’s even

more powerful . It’s the kind of funny effect I love doing .

You can of course make your own designs , and just be sure to identify easily the 3 letters .
