Here's the tutorial in text. Thanks to MagicTammi & Bobblaine from SOMF for helping on this:
For anyone who doesn't know, this is achieved by the crayons being made short so they appear in the window at the top of the box. They are linked together on a slide, or you can even link them with cardboard and duct tape.
To make them disappear, they simply drop out of view from the window into the bottom of the crayon box. Being short they can disappear out of view easily.
I'd say three things about this effect.
1. It's not earth shattering. Indeed the method is rather obvious so use it in conjunction with a magic colouring book effect. It's not really a standalone item.
2. The drop noise can be rather loud as the crayons hit the bottom of the box, so either pad it with cotton wool or shout one, two, THREEEEE to hide the sound.
3. Use a silk to wave in front of the box to hide the drop of the crayons which is not instantaneous.
I have performed this item and unless you dress it up as suggested, it will fall pretty flat. It's probably more suitable for the young ones up to about 6 years old. The 7 -10 year olds may be shouting "They're in the bottom of the box". In which case, if you are really sneaky. You put the box away, and then if they are still shouting, bring out a duplicate completely empty crayon box.

Re: The Disappearing Crayons Tutorial
Cool trick that works great when performed with the magic coloring book. Show the book uncolored and when the crayons disappear the coloring book is colored.
Thanks for the tutorial.
